WHAT IS THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION?

The Royal Canadian Legion is Canada’s largest Veterans and Community services organization. They are a national organization committed to Veterans, their families, and the communities they call home. We offer programs and services for a wide variety of groups on both local and national levels. Through these offerings, we aim to improve the lives of those involved while instilling in them the importance of Remembrance.

BRANCH HISTORY

The Colonel Moore Branch # 26 was first built in it’s current location in 1923, after previously having a club-room on the second floor of the Dave White store building across the street. In 1960 a fire destroyed the original building and the current structure was rebuilt on this site in 1962.

During WW II there were 411 enlistments from Banff, 25 of whom were women.
